Award-winning professional artist Cathy Shugg travels widely throughout Australia and abroad to create her paintings, drawings, and mixed media works en plein air. These on-site artworks serve as inspirations for her larger paintings, collages, and mixed media pieces, which she subsequently develops during artist residencies overseas or in her garden studio in Bowral. Equally at home with landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, interiors, figurative, and abstract work, Shugg employs a wide range of media and explores diverse subjects. Her work is characteristically expressive, colourful, and joyous.
Artist Biography
Cathy Shugg has received awards for her watercolor and acrylic paintings, drawings, and mixed media artworks over her 25+ years of professional painting. She exhibits in solo and group shows in Australia and Europe and has undertaken artist residencies in France and Australia. An experienced art educator, Shugg has taught in Australian schools and for arts organisations, both locally and in Asia. Her inspiration comes from life and the world around her.
