A Plea for Peace

Berrima Singers present Karl Jenkins’ ‘The Armed Man – a mass for peace’. Based on a 15th century French poem, this mass is one of the world’s most-performed choral works by a living composer. Berrima Singers is proud to bring the choral suite from that mass to the Highlands, along with other captivating and thought-provoking works inspired by the theme ‘A Plea for Peace’, in what promises to be a moving, and ultimately uplifting, choral experience. I believe ‘The Armed Man’ is so popular because music-lovers around the world are mostly people of goodwill who feel concerned about the way the world has been managed. ‘The Armed Man’ is a powerful statement against all wars from past to present, containing elements from literature, religions, cultures and musical diversity, without limitations of time, geography or cultural background. It is just a powerful way to say: better is peace than war. Those and more, are reasons why I believe we should perform such a magnificent work.
