The Artists were asked to respond to the phrase ālet them eat cakeā from Jean-Jaques Rousseauās autobiography, Confessions, that has been misattributed to Marie Antionette.
There was a wide variety of responses from those dealing with social justice and food insecurity, to works following in the tradition of the impressionists and American artist Wayne Thiebaud celebrating the joy and beauty that cake brings to daily life.
