Kate Tribe is a contemporary artist using hand cross stitch as a medium. Artwork series: – Being Pulled and Folded: the constant tug, or pull, between the different parts of life that exist for us. – Commuter Life: the paths and tracks we use when we travel can become a circular or repetitive rhythm. – Transitions: created when life was in a period of transition, not follow the themes of other works, and haven’t become themes on their own. – Moody Stars: have colour and repetition, combine simplicity and complexity, been dark and crazy, but mostly represent happiness.
Artist Biography
“Over four decades Kate has been; pattern follower, experimenter, creator, and artist. Improvising while hand cross stitching abstract works about life. In 2024, solo exhibition sold over 60% of original works, invited to have works at Timeless Textiles in Newcastle and 2024 Penrose Art Exhibition. Experimenting with mediums (creating dye) and formats (stitching earrings), and end products (printing on fashion and homeware).” Kate Tribe
