Welcome to the historic Fitzroy Inn, a Southern Highlands wedding venue, historic walk and boutique accommodation.

The Fitzroy Inn is one of the oldest and finest examples of Early Australian Settler’s Establishments circa 1836. Located only one hour from the centre of Sydney by car, and 2 hours by train.

Set on the edge of a rural town, this charming Victorian colonial building with its wrap-around verandah opened as the Fitzroy Inn in 1836. First of all it was established as a guest house in the State to provide rooms, and also sold liquor.

Today, the Fitzroy Inn continues that hospitable tradition, and as a result, has reopened as a country inn and wedding venue. Set amidst five acres of tranquil gardens with a stream flowing through it, and dotted with century-old oaks, it is certainly an estate to visit.

We pride ourselves in having the flexibility to work with you to provide practical and inspiring options, including team building activities and renowned gourmet dining. The property boasts outstanding business and event facilities, with function rooms varying in size. The surrounding region also offers an array of activities, including walking, cycling, golfing and a host of local producers including wine makers, cheesemakers, chocolatiers and much, much more.

The Fitzroy Inn has an extensive food and wine menu to suit every requirement, ranging from gourmet canapés to two or three course lunch or dinners. This unique property offers you an array of choice, including pre-dinner drinks and canapés on the verandah or by our log fire, to dinner in the beautiful sandstone restaurant or historic dungeon. The Fitzroy Inn Historic Retreat in Mittagong offers a variety of room options to suit specific requirements and configurations. Each venue has an individual character which adds to the charm of holding a meeting in this historic building. Whether you are organising an executive retreat, planning a meeting or conference for 10 – 100 delegates, there is plenty of natural light creating a welcoming and stimulating atmosphere.

HISTORIC WALK

Fitzroy Inn History Walk comprises a 21 viewpoint journey including the original Fitzroy Inn with historical features. Highlights include library, kitchen & service bar areas, prisoners cells & adjoining facilities, conservatory, dormitory, tennis court, weir & pump house, concluding with Nattai River Bridge. A self guide experience at your leisure or guided tours available on request. Wheelchair access available for viewpoints 1 to 10 only.

ACCOMMODATION

Choose from any of the eleven delightful bedrooms in the historic Inn, including four cosy attic accommodation rooms overlooking the gardens, or one of four spacious bedrooms in the restored School Master’s Cottage, two of which are upstairs. All rooms have Queen size or King size beds and some will accommodate an extra family member on a sofa bed whilst others may be converted into twin share.

Rooms include WiFi, smart TV and HDMI connection to watch your favourite movies. Continental breakfast is available everyday.  Book early and don’t be disappointed.
